FAQS

How do I set up the Chameleon for the first time?

1. Mount the Chameleon on a tripod (any standard 1/4-inch screw tripod works) near the center line.

2. Remove your phone case, then center your phone in the clamp — align your phone's camera lens with the Chameleon's built-in tracking camera.

3. Download the XbotGo app (iOS/Android) and create an account.

4. Open the app, power on the Chameleon, and connect via Bluetooth.

5. Select your sport type, field/court size, and age group, then tap Record.

How do I connect my phone to the Chameleon?

The Chameleon connects via Bluetooth for initial pairing and control. Open the XbotGo app → power on the Chameleon → the app detects the device for pairing. Once connected, the Chameleon also creates a local WiFi hotspot that your phone connects to for data transfer — this is device-to-device, no external internet needed. Internet is only required for live streaming.

Which phones are compatible with the Chameleon?

iPhone: iPhone XS or newer (including iPhone 11–16 series). iPhone SE is not supported.

Android: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor or newer. Recommended: Samsung Galaxy S21+, Google Pixel 7+, OnePlus 9+, Xiaomi 11+.

The clamp fits phones up to 180mm diagonal, 55–90mm wide, and 9.5mm thick.

Not supported: Tablets, iPads, and foldable phones (Galaxy Z Fold series).

What video resolution does the Chameleon support?

Since the Chameleon uses your phone's camera, video quality depends on your device. It supports 720p, 1080p, and 4K (up to 60fps). Team sports modes (soccer, basketball, football, etc.) use optimized HD for enhanced tracking. Individual sports modes (tennis, pickleball, badminton) use optimized HD (720p for iPhone 12 and earlier) and pan angle (60°–150°) and pan speed in the app.

How long does the battery last?

The Chameleon has a 6,000mAh battery providing up to 8 hours of continuous use — enough for a full tournament day. Charging takes approximately 3.5 hours with a 5V/2A adapter. Note: your phone's battery will also drain during recording, so bring a portable charger for extended sessions.

Can I live stream games with the Chameleon?

Yes. The Chameleon supports live streaming to YouTube, Facebook, XbotGo Live, or any RTMP platform directly from the app.

What tripod should I use and where should I position it?

Any tripod with a standard 1/4-inch screw head works.

For smaller fields/indoor courts (basketball, 5v5 soccer): the portable XbotGo T1 Tripod (~4 ft) works well.

For larger fields (9v9 or 11v11 soccer): the taller XbotGo NT4 (13 ft) is recommended.

Position the tripod near the center line. Indoor courts need shorter setups; outdoor fields benefit from elevated positioning for the Chameleon's 120° ultra-wide-angle field of view.
